As you are aware, there have been a number of events that have directly and indirectly impacted our industry and economy, such as the rise in inflation, energy and health insurance costs, just to name a few. We have attempted to do our best in managing these internally through a series of increased plant efficiencies, cost down measures and other activities. At this point, we can no longer buffer our valued customers from these rising input costs and are forced to pass along a modest increase so we can maintain the same level of service and quality that you expect from Propex.

Effective February 18, 2013, we will implement a price increase of 5% on our full portfolio of concrete reinforcement fiber products. All orders must be received, confirmed via an order acknowledgement and shipped by 5:00 EST, Friday, February 15, 2013 to be invoiced at current pricing. Any confirmed orders placed prior to today’s date with confirmed ship dates will be honored at your current price. Any new orders received or shipped after February 15, 2013 will be invoiced at the new price. Propex reserves the right to limit quantities.

Dear valued customer,

On behalf of the Propex Infrastructure Solutions team, I would like to thank you for your continued loyalty and support. One of our responsibilities and commitments is to keep you informed as to the world of polypropylene feedstock pricing and availability. There are a number of dynamics and influencers occurring in the world of petrochemicals and specifically, polypropylene. As we have shared via previous communications over the past few years, polypropylene raw materials have been going through an extended period of volatility. Most of this volatility is driven by a higher demand that is greater than supply and industry availability. Prices for polypropylene resin have been at low levels for an unprecedented time period, but due to the current dramatic rise in raw material feedstock drivers, we are forced to execute the following price increase.

Effective February 1, 2013, we will implement a price increase of 15% on our full portfolio of geotextile and erosion control products. All orders must be received and shipped by 5:00 EST, Thursday, January 31, 2013 to be invoiced at current pricing. Any confirmed orders placed prior to today’s date with scheduled ship dates will be honored at the confirmed price and ship date. Any new orders received or shipped after January 31, 2013 will be confirmed at the new price. Propex reserves the right to limit quantities. Your Territory Business Manager is available to answer any questions you may have. We anticipate the current environment for petrochemical feedstock to continue to increase and expect additional price actions in the near future.

It is our continued responsibility to set standards for best practices that will strengthen and grow our industry. Aligning yourself with an innovative global leader such as Propex during these times will assure your business a continued long term supply of high quality products and value for the markets we service together.

The Propex Brand Promise ensures you of our commitment to provide the highest quality products, technical expertise, exceptional customer service, and the broadest portfolio of solutions in the industry.

CHATTANOOGA – October 10, 2012 – Propex Operating Company, LLC announced today that it has been awarded a patent by the United States Patent Office for the yarn manufacturing technology it developed and currently uses in its proprietary EX3® line of lightweight carpet backings. Propex is a global Infrastructure and Packaging Solutions provider and a leading producer of synthetic carpet backing.

The patented technology allows Propex to efficiently produce uniquely textured tape yarns for use in applications such as carpet backing, geotextiles and packaging. For example, in carpet applications, EX3® backings made with this technology enable carpet manufacturers to produce patterned carpets with higher resolution using light-weight backings. Carpet manufacturers also benefit from twenty percent larger rolls, meaning fewer backing changes are needed on tufting machines. EX3® also translates to a reduced carbon footprint including as much as twelve percent less energy consumed during manufacturing.

“As an established leader in the industries we serve, Propex is thrilled to have yet another example of a protected technology patent offering our customers a differentiated technological advantage,” said Dave Gartshore, Business VP for Furnishings at Propex. “We are also continually looking at ways to leverage this technology in other Propex products and solutions in the future.”

Learn More
Propex discussed the news of Propex’s recent U.S. patent for the yarn used in its EX3 primary carpet backing. Listen to the interview to hear more details about this innovation and current business conditions on FloorDaily.net

Use of Patented Technology Co-Developed to Offer Highest Level of Performance, Protection

TORONTO – September 12, 2012 – Bauer Hockey, Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of ice hockey equipment, today announced a multi-year partnership with Propex Operating Company, LLC, the producer of CURV® Composite Technology. CURV is a high-tech composite material used in Bauer Hockey’s elite-level skates. This partnership is exclusive to Bauer Hockey and utilizes patented technology that was developed by Propex as part of Bauer Hockey’s long-standing investment to elevate player performance and continuously exceed expectations in product development.

“Utilizing state-of-the-art materials for our equipment is a priority because players are always looking for maximum performance and protection, and they know our brands meet these demands,” said Kevin Davis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bauer Performance Sports. “Our partnership with Propex is a continuation of this commitment, and we’re pleased this exclusive relationship has been extended.”

CURV® Composite Technology captures exceptional mechanical properties by incorporating a process for weaving different composite materials that does not require additional reinforcement, such as with an additional structure, to maintain stiffness. As a result, the product also yields high tensile strength and outstanding impact resistance at a significantly lower weight than many other composite materials. CURV® Composite Technology is one of the many high-end technologies that go into Bauer Hockey’s high performance skates.

“Propex is thrilled to be exclusively partnered with the leading hockey skate manufacturer in the industry and believes BAUER has used CURV® Composite Technology in a way that showcases the technology’s key properties and benefits,” said Dave Gartshore, Business VP for CURV® Composite Technology at Propex. “We anticipate many examples of ground-breaking, innovative product developments happening throughout this mutually beneficial partnership.”

Bauer Hockey utilizes CURV® Composite Technology in its current line of skates, including the SUPREME TOTALONE NXG, the SUPREME ONE.9 and the VAPOR APX.

Fibermesh® 150 and Fibermesh® 300 manufactured by Propex recently received an evaluation report (ESR#1165) from ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES), providing evidence that these microsynthetic concrete fiber reinforcements meet code requirements. Building officials, architects, contractors, specifiers, designers and others utilize ICC-ES Evaluation Reports to provide a basis for using or approving Fibermesh in construction projects under the International Fibrous Reinforcing Code.

ICC-ES President Shahin Moinian explains why ICC-ES Evaluation Reports are so important. “Propex can now reference the evaluation report to ensure building officials and the building industry that the product meets I-Code requirements,” Moinian said. “Building departments have a long history of using evaluation reports, and ICC-ES operates as a technical resource with the highest quality of product review for the building department. Final approval of building products is always in the hands of the local regulatory agency.”

ICC-ES thoroughly examined Propex’s product information, test reports, calculations, quality control methods and other factors to ensure the product is code-compliant.

Propex Relocating to Warehouse Row in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Chattanooga, Tenn. – Propex Global has signed a lease to occupy 30,000 square feet at Warehouse Row, a series of restored warehouse structures transformed into a contemporary destination for modern fashion, urban design, loft-style offices, and gourmet dining in downtown Chattanooga. To date, this is the largest lease at Warehouse Row since Jamestown purchased the property in 2006.

Warehouse Row is currently being restored to reflect the architectural heritage of when it was developed in 1864, and offers the most distinctive office environment in downtown Chattanooga. The restoration began in late 2011, and has spurred a flurry of leasing activity, prompting innovative companies to make their move from traditional to loft-style office space.

“As a global company headquartered in Chattanooga, we are very pleased to be moving into the heart of the city and region, by relocating to Warehouse Row,” said Propex CEO Mike Gorey. “Warehouse Row offers location, amenities, and an office environment unlike any other property in the area.”

Propex is scheduled to move approximately 110 employees later this year. The firm will relocate from an executive business plaza on Lee Highway, where it has been headquartered for the past 14 years. Propex is a global company, with manufacturing facilities on four continents that produce a highly innovative portfolio of engineered products that serve the regions carpet industry and help develop and rebuild key infrastructure worldwide.

“From the outset to restore Warehouse Row, Jamestown had a vision of dynamic companies, such as Propex, migrating away from the traditional office environment,” stated Michael Phillips, COO of Jamestown. “Propex’s lease confirms the accuracy of our vision. We are excited to see innovative firms, like Propex, making the move to Warehouse Row.”

Warehouse Row is the only mixed-use, multi-tenant property in Chattanooga that offers tenants amenities such as shopping and dining while working in a loft-style office environment. Creative loft office suites are an incubator for inventive service firms that thrive on interaction with peer companies. Exposed heart pine ceilings, ventilation ducts, and brickwork set Warehouse Row apart from traditional office spaces within the area. These uses, combined with a mix of unique special event space, make Warehouse Row a distinct community.

John Healy of Sperry Van Ness represented Warehouse Row, while Benjamin Pitts of Herman Walldorf Commercial brokered the transaction for Propex.
