CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., Feb. 6, 2012 — Fibermesh® by Propex was named the #1 brand of reinforcing fiber in both categories of Concrete Construction Magazine’s 2012 Brand Study: Brand Familiarity and Brand Most Used.

In the magazine’s reader survey, Fibermesh was voted the #1 brand based on these questions: Which brands have you heard of? And, which brands has your firm used in the past two years (including brands you subcontracted with others to install)?

“The results of Concrete Construction’s Brand Survey solidly demonstrate that Fibermesh has a strong performance record and bond of trust with concrete contractors,” said John Maynie, Corporate Director of Marketing for Propex. “The fact that it swept both categories affirms that Fibermesh leads the industry in concrete reinforcing fibers.”

The survey sample of 4,250 was selected in systematic fashion by the magazine’s publisher, Hanley Wood and Readex Research from recipients classified as contractors in Concrete Construction’s readership. The data was collected via mail survey from September 20 to November 7, 2011. Readex Research is a nationally recognized independent research company located in Stillwater, Minnesota.

Intent
Social media has gone mainstream, and for Propex it represents an opportunity to create awareness and educate the community about the solutions we provide. We have a well-deserved reputation for delivering products and services of the highest quality. We have brought innovation and leadership to the markets we serve. From blogs, and Twitter to LinkedIn and YouTube, we have the means to join the conversation and share knowledge with millions of customers around the globe every day.

Our customers are seeking information and researching in social media channels. Every employee has an opportunity to express and communicate online in many ways, and Propex encourages an online presence. By posting interesting, creative comments and leveraging their expertise on social sites, Propex employees are the company’s biggest promoters. Propex recognizes this fact.

A new Social Media Policy has been developed for Propex employees as a guide in social networking practices. Please review and acknowledge receipt of the Propex Social Media Policy by clicking on the following link and providing your electronic signature. http://pronet/departments/custom/Human%20Resources/…..

Should you have questions regarding this policy, please contact Brian Pearlman, Vice President of Human Resources.

Our Goal
The growing popularity of social media is also of great importance for companies. Internet users talk about companies, discuss new technologies and recommend – or warn against – products. By getting involved in social media, Propex can identify trends at any early stage, respond to criticism or introduce their own topics for discussion. And who better to represent the company and its diversity in the public arena than the employees? Through your expert knowledge, you can contribute to online discussions or find useful ideas for your work.

Help answer questions in forums related to your area of expertise
Connect the dots with customers and uncover sales opportunities
Add Propex to your profiles
Leverage our collective knowledge in your RSS feeds
Re-tweet Propex news to your network
Promote Propex videos as well as other videos that you find useful
Show customers that we’re listening to their product ideas

Our goal is to create awareness and educate the community about the solutions we provide. To aid us in joining the social media conversation and creating a better relationship with our customers online, a new Social Media Policy has been developed for Propex employees to use as a guide.

Propex Social Media Policy
Social media, professional networking sites, rapid-fire communications, blog sites, and personal Web sites can be very useful and effective mediums for communication. Propex recognizes this fact. Every employee has an opportunity to express and communicate online in many ways, and Propex encourages an online presence. Propex employees are encouraged to use the following guidelines in social networking practices. This policy sets forth guidelines that employees should follow for all online communications to Propex. Above all else, employees must use good judgment.
Topic matter guidelines
Adhere to the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and other applicable policies.
All Company employees, from the CEO to every intern, are subject to the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct in every public setting. Additionally, other policies that govern employee behavior with respect to the disclosure of information are applicable to your personal activities online.
1.	Observe the law
Do not publish slanderous, libelous or otherwise illegal content. Do not publish content on the internet without the relevant copyright information. Comply with copyrights and respect the rights of the individual regarding the use of their own image.
2.	Maintain professionalism, honesty, and respect.
•	Pay attention to quality and accuracy.
It’s easy to get a lot of attention quickly online. However, it is only worthwhile if enriched by high-quality input. Information can be verified immediately on the web. False statements and sometimes mere omissions are quickly discovered.
•	Give credit where credit is due and don’t violate others’ rights.
DO NOT claim authorship of something that is not yours. If you are using another party’s content, make certain that they are credited for it in your post and that they approve of you utilizing their content. This shows respect for original authors and adds to your credibility.
•	Be respectful and polite.
As a Company representative, it is important that employees’ posts convey the same positive, optimistic spirit that Propex instills in all of its communications. Employees must be respectful of all individuals, races, religions and cultures. How an employee conducts themselves, in the online social media space not only reflects on that employee—it is a direct reflection on Propex.
•	State that it’s your opinion.
When commenting on the business. Unless authorized to speak on behalf of Propex, you must state that the views expressed are your own. Hourly employees should not speak on behalf of Propex when they are off the clock.
•	Protect yourself.
Be careful about what personal information you share online.
•	Act responsibly and ethically.
When participating in online communities, do not misrepresent yourself. If you are not a vice president, do no say you are.
3.	Employees are responsible for their own actions.
Everything that employees posts has the potential to reflect on the Company’s image. Participation in the online social media space is encouraged; however, employees are urged to do so properly, exercising sound judgment and common sense. This ultimately is your responsibility.
•	Be conscious when mixing your business and personal lives.
Online, one’s personal and business personas are likely to intersect. The Company respects the free speech rights of employees, but you must remember that customers, colleagues and supervisors have access to the online content you post. Keep this in mind when publishing information online that can be forwarded. Remember to NEVER disclose non-public or confidential information, and be aware that taking public positions online that are counter to the Company’s interests could create a conflict of interest.
•	Remember that local posts can have global significance.
The way that employees answers an online question might be accurate in some parts of the world, but inaccurate (or even illegal) in others. Keep that “world view” in mind when participating in online conversations.
•	Know that the Internet is permanent.
Once information is published online, it is essentially part of a permanent record, even if later deleted. If a response can be taken out of its original context, (e.g. abbreviated postings like twitter or long blog and forum threads) it provides a link where the message is expressed completely and accurately.
4.	Fully disclose your affiliation with Propex.
Propex requires all associates who are communicating on behalf of the company to always disclose their name and their affiliation. State your relationship with the Company from the outset, to establish credibility above all else. Also, employees must state that any opinion is theirs individually and not a form of official communication from Propex.
•	Honor our differences.
Live the values. Propex will not tolerate discrimination (including age, sex, race, color, creed, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, disability, or marital status or any other legally recognized protected basis under federal, state, or local laws, regulations or ordinances).
5.	Be relevant. Post in your area of expertise.
Let the subject matter experts respond.
Posts should be made in the employees’ area of expertise to ensure accuracy and complete information. If you come across a negative or disparaging post, avoid the temptation to react yourself – pass the post along to those who are trained in the subject matter.
When in doubt, do not post.
As online spokespeople, employees must ensure that their posts are completely accurate and not misleading, and that they do not reveal non-public information of the Company. Exercise sound judgment and common sense, and if there is any doubt, DO NOT POST IT.
6.	Keep records.
It is critical that we keep records of our interactions in the online social media space and monitor the activities of those with whom we engage. Because online conversations are often fleeting and immediate, it is important for you to keep track of them when you’re officially representing Propex. Remember that online, statements can be held to the same legal standards as traditional media communications. Keep records of any online dialogue pertaining to the Company.
Off-Limits material
Intellectual property, trade secrets, or customer data
Treat confidential information confidentially. Employees are not allowed to disseminate confidential information that they learn as part of their job. Propex’s intellectual property, trade secrets, and customer data are strictly forbidden from any online discourse.
1.	Financial information
Any online communication regarding the company’s financial data is strictly forbidden except through mechanisms managed internally by Propex.
2.	Company-sensitive matters
Any online communication regarding proprietary information such as layoffs, strategic decisions, or other announcements deemed inappropriate for uncoordinated public exchange is forbidden.
3.	Inaccurate or defamatory content
Employees who participate in online communication deemed not to be in the best interest of Propex (including but not limited to information leakage or inaccurate, distasteful, or defamatory commentary about the company) will be subject to disciplinary action. Disciplinary action can include termination or other intervention as deemed appropriate by the Company Human Resources. Further, if any associate becomes aware of activity that would be deemed distasteful or in bad judgment, please contact Propex Human Resources.
Relevant technologies
Just as with traditional media, we have an opportunity to effectively manage the Company’s reputation online and to selectively engage and participate in the thousands of online conversations that mention us every day. This policy includes, but is not limited to, the following specific technologies: LinkedIn, Google Profile, Forums, Blogs, Twitter, Digg.
Authority
This social networking policy applies to all employees, contractors, business partners or other parties with a material interest in Propex Operating Company, LLC. This policy is approved by Human Resources and the executive leadership team.

Chattanooga, TN – Geotextile Systems by Propex today introduced Geotex® Orange Barrier Fabric, a nonwoven, polypropylene fabric designed to protect utility and water lines and contaminated soil areas from digging. With the same level of quality performance as Propex’s black geotextile fabric, the fibers are needle-punched to form a stable network of fibers. Geotex Orange Barrier Fabric is available in styles ranging from 4 ounces up to 10 ounces per square yard.“One of Propex’s goals is to make our infrastructures safer around the globe,” said Craig Martin, VP of Geotextile Systems. “Geotex Orange Barrier Fabric is just one more protective step for excavation jobs that signals workers with its bright orange color to stop digging in areas that may have cables, water lines or contamination.” He added, “Geotex is also a sturdy fabric that meets our stringent quality controls, providing secure soil separation and holding its bright orange color over time.”

With superior strength and dimensional stability for soil separation, Geotex Orange Barrier Fabric also provides excellent drainage with water flow rates of 150 gallons per minute. It is resistant to biological and chemical environments normally found in soils. Geotex provides a barrier for underground utilities, historic sites, and hazard areas for more than 120 years. It is perfect for waste and water management, landfills, highways, air strips and fields.

Geotex Orange Barrier Fabric meets Propex’s internal Manufacturing Quality Control (MQC) tests accredited by the Geosynthetic Accreditation Institute- Laboratory Accreditation Program (GAI-LAP).

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee, July 11, 2011 – Chattanooga-based Propex Operating Company, LLC, announced today that its Geotextile Laboratory at its Ringgold, GA, manufacturing facility has achieved the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) lab accreditation for Quality Control Mechanical Testing. A2LA accreditation demonstrates technical competence for a defined scope and operation of a laboratory quality management system. It is in accordance with the recognized International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories.

According to Steve Thaxton, Engineering Services Manager, A2LA accreditation assures customers that common performance and hydraulic properties of nonwoven geotextile products are tested in compliance with current ASTM, ISO, Australian or Canadian standard test methodologies and that the quality control test equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.

Thaxton underscores the importance of accreditation by pointing out that destructive product test results are not universal or bias-free and designs can fail if reported test results do not accurately reflect actual performance. “Since geotextile labs generate critical data used in civil and environmental engineering designs, testing standards and accreditation are absolutely necessary to protect public safety and the environment,” he added.

This latest accreditation further distinguishes Propex’s Ringgold, GA laboratory. Additional lab accreditations and certifications held by Propex – Ringgold, include CE, BNQ, and the gold standard for geosynthetic testing, GAI-LAP. In addition, the plant’s quality system is maintained under ISO 9001:2008 certification and it is ISO 14001 certified as a result of documented procedures and efforts to improve and protect the environment.

“Strict manufacturing specifications, quality control monitoring, and laboratory testing ensure our products consistently meet or exceed the most demanding customer specifications,” said Thaxton. “Like any quality-driven manufacturer, we will continue to invest in testing and accreditations to keep us sharp and to keep our infrastructure safe.”

For a complete list of test methods included in scope of A2LA, visit their web site at www.A2LA.org, and click “Search Accredited Organizations” to find “Propex – Ringgold, GA” in the dropdown list. For more information about Propex, visit www.propexbrands.com.

85% recycled PET backing dramatically improves pattern definition, reduces manufacturing waste.

Chattanooga, Tenn (19 May 2011) – Propex, the world’s leading manufacturer of woven backing for tufted carpet, announces the introduction of Isis – bringing new design capabilities, manufacturing savings and more sustainable materials to modular carpet.

“With Isis, modular carpet designers and manufacturers can offer specifiers more options for beautiful carpet tiles,” said Dave Gartshore, Propex Vice President of Sales, Furnishing Solutions. “Our global research and development team has spent nearly 3 years developing this product, which is dimensionally stable, is easier to tuft and mend on the manufacturing floor, and also includes at least 85% recycled PET plastic.”

Propex has set the industry standard for woven backing for broadloom carpets, since the introduction of Polybac® primary carpet backing and Actionbac® secondary carpet backing – which provide a dimensionally stable foundation for superior tufting, improved aesthetics, pattern definition and versatility.

“Carpet designers and manufacturers have been asking for a primary backing that can bring the benefits of woven to modular carpet,” said Gartshore. “Advances in technology have enabled us to accomplish these goals, with Isis – and to do it using sustainable materials. Starting now, carpet manufacturers have a whole new way to appeal to A&D.”

Furnishing Solutions by Propex develops backing materials that support new products and revolutionize industries. Breakthrough materials like synthetic carpet backing brought strength, long-term durability and manufacturing options to the floor, like never before. Propex also manufactures niche products including non-wovens for the automotive industry and backing for the synthetic turf in some of the world’s largest sports complexes.

All Propex backing solutions – in all of the industries they serve – set the standard for performance and serve as critical solutions for customers’ manufacturing needs. Creating a stable foundation for furnishing products the world uses, every day.
